Who Are the Epoch People...

"We are ready for something new, something better..."

We had been trying to do something for years.  The problem is that we are often held back by things that are beyond our control.  We are also held back by things that are in our control also.  We wanted to create something that speaks about the world in which we live.  We want to broaden our horizons to take in things that are beyond our comfort zone.  We want to embrace new art and new music.

Epoch people want to travel the world.

Epoch people want to go to a concert, but also talk about deep issues.

Epoch people go to festivals but are concerned about how much of the waste is recycled.

 Epoch people wonder where their money is going and spend their values.

Epoch people meet new people at every opportunity.

Epoch people support their surrounding community.

Can a Hula Hoop Save The World?

Can a hoop save the world?  That is a good question and not really hard to answer, but not really easy to answer either.  Epoch Festivals are about tapping into the unity of various groups and bringing them together with other groups with similar interests and goals.  It is about galvanizing and strengthening a generation.  My group?  Hoopers.

I like to take a few moments during my day and going out of the office with my hoop and working out for a few minutes like a few others like Chanel there taking a break at work...

One of the things that I found is that I am not alone.  That is a big thing.  Four words that say it all... "I am not alone"
Being me and doing what I do, I roll in certain circles and those circles get larger and larger the more things that I do and the more people I talk to.  I am not alone.  There are people in these circles who are going through the same things that I am goin through.  They are having the same problems that I am having.  They are doing the same things to blow off steam that I do.

On May 16, 2015 we are getting together, 5000 of us and we hope more, and
going for the Guinness World Record for the most number of hoopers hooping all in one place, all at one time at Oasis Farm in California City, CA.  We are not alone.

At that point in time, we will all be together, all at once, doing the same thing at the same time.  We will be able to look back at that point in time and say yes, at this time, we were all on the same page.

Yes, hoopers can save the world.

Rise! Rise! Rise! The Sound of 10,000 Voices

Ten months is a long way away, many have said.  It cannot be helped because
there is so much to do and so much to learn along the way to what we are trying to accomplish.  We need to start early.

Last year, over 50,000 people attended Burning Man and this event focuses primarily on art and music.  It is a beautiful event and we want to model after it, but still add to it.

There is more to life than art and music.  There is science and faith.  There is  politics and health.  There is more.

Last year, over 51,000 people came to Burning Man.  Over 125,000 people go to Comic Con each year.  Over a million other people went to music festivals all over the country.  Many people congregated all over the country, all over the world, for various reasons and in various ways.

These events, these causes have been spread all over the place.  Can we bring these voices together?  Can we get more voices to speak in unison?

We are going to be a destination event.  When people leave, they are going to be thinking about when they get to get back.  We are going to be the sound of 10,000 voices.

We want to find the sound of 10,000 voices.  What do you want to say?

Definition of Epoch...

Epoch is coming.... A lot of festivals focus on one thing. It could be music. It could be robots. It could be any one of a number of things. We are reaching further. We are focusing on the glory of life and our changing world.

Epoch will be two major events...Epoch East will be a smaller venue event in Burnsville, North Carolina with about 2000 people focused primarily on music and food April 30 through March 3.

Epoch West will be a much larger event.  A city will rise in the desert of California City.  We are going to aim for 10,000 people attending this event with music, art, and more.  There will be speakers from all over the country.  There will be deep discussions of art as well as politics and culture.  Records will be broken.

An Epoch is defined as a moment in time when there is drastic change.  You will leave different than when you arrived.

a period of time in history or a person's life, typically one marked by notable events or particular characteristics.

 We set out to do something different and these festivals are definitely going to be different.  The Epoch Festivals are about transforming our lives through Music Art and Science.

The goal is to bring together a multitude of worlds and disciplines and provide a platform for them to connect and to foster innovation and creativity.  We want to create spaces where people can grow, learn, and change.  Our challenge?  For you to leave here greater than when you came.
